Top Vegan/Veggie Eats in Chelsea Market

In recent years, Chelsea Market has become a lively hub for colorful vendors offering everything from artisanal beer to Chinese paper lanterns. In between, there are a number of veggie-friendly grub hubs that visitors can take full advantage of. Whether you’re in the mood for mouth-tingling hand-pulled noodles or subtly sweet seasonal sorbets, this multicultural market has got you covered.

  1. Beyond Sushi

    Phone: (212) 929-2889
    Hours: Monday – Saturday: 11:00AM – 8:30PM Sunday: 11:00AM – 8:00PM

This all-vegan sushi joint (yes, you read that right — it is not an oxymoron!) serves up fresh, veggie-filled sushi rolls, ramen and rice-paper wraps. The chain has recently expanded to serve six locations around the tri-state area, with no impact on the quality and taste of their menu items. Our favorites include the spicy mang roll, saffron rosemary cauliflower and homemade black tahini ice cream.

  2. Very Fresh Noodles

    Hours: Mon – Sat 11AM – 9PM; Sun 11AM – 8PM
Spicy mouth abusers will love the painfully-delicious hand-pulled noodles from Very Fresh Noodles, a Taiwanese fast food restaurant that routinely attracts hordes of noodle-starved zombies. Choose from the vegan biang-biang noodles with mock duck (spice level adjustable) or very spicy dan dan mian (spice level NOT adjustable). Whatever your poison, your mouth won’t be disappointed, your tummy will tingle and your slurp skills will prevail till the very last noodle.

  3. Num Pang

    Phone: (212) 390-8851
    Hours: Mon – Sat 11AM – 9PM; Sun 11AM – 8PM
Banh-mi lovers will appreciate the crispy and soft sandwich stylings of Num Pang, whose menu features several vegan options, ranging from salads, sandwiches and bowls. Our favorite is the spicy organic tofu, which contains savory sweet, crispy fried tofu and spicy chili glaze. They also feature seasonal sandwiches which might just be vegan!

  4. The Green Table

    Phone: (212) 741-9174
    Hours: Everyday 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
For a slightly fancier dining experience, look no further than The Green Table for farm fresh, locally sourced dishes. Vegetarians will find their indulgent mushroom pot pie with a whole wheat crust a delicious option, and vegans can devour the cauliflower steak with aplomb. Their menu rotates seasonally, so be sure to check back often and ask about daily specials!

  5. L’arte del Gelato

    Phone: (212) 366-0570
    Hours: Everyday 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
After a satisfying meal at any of the above joints, hunker on down to the sweetly satisfying sorbet stylings of L’arte del Gelato. Yes, technically it’s gelato sorbet, since only the fruit flavors are vegan — but they are stellar, not the over-saccharine, too-dense types you’d find in the supermarket. Their stall is obviously especially popular in the warmer months, but TBH their gelato is tasty year-round!

  6. Bar Suzette

    Phone:  (917) 727-2169
    Hours: Sunday 8:30am-7pm Tuesday–Sunday: 8:30am–9pm
For a taste of the French life, walk a few steps over to Bar Suzette, where they serve lentil and chickpea-based crepes chock-full of healthy veggies and house-made hummus (Truffle Hummus Crepe). Best of all, the crepes can be held with one hand, ideal for some #crepeselfies.

  7. Seed + Mill

    Hours: Everyday 10AM – 8PM

Tahini and halva lovers will appreciate the hand-stirred, freshly ground offerings available at Seed + Mill, a female-owned business (started by a trio of friends!) dedicated to the art of the sesame seed. Although they don’t offer ready-made eats, it is worth a stop to check out their unique sesame-based products, including sesame and salt/za’tar jars that add a kick to all dishes!

  8. Chelsea Market Baskets

    Phone: (212) 727-1111
    Hours: Mon – Sat 10:00AM – 8:30PM; Sun 10:30AM – 7:30PM
To bring a piece of Chelsea Market home, look no further than Chelsea Market Baskets for the perfect take-home gift. A specially curated basket called Vegan Sweet Treats has Mexican chocolates, gummy bears, natural gum and paleo cocoa bars for the discerning sweet tooth.
