De Kas’ menu perfectly blends elegance and freshness. By using herbs and vegetables grown in their restaurant garden and farm in Beemster, the restaurant is able to create a culinary experience that will shock your taste buds. The daily harvest inspires one fixed menu per day. Although a typical menu features sustainable fish or meat, the chef is happy to provide a vegetarian only option. Sit inside and view the garden from the glass interiors, or on warmer days, enjoy your lunch in the herb garden.

Fixed menu prices:
Lunch 3 dishes: €32,50 // 4 dishes: €42,50
Dinner 5 dishes: €52,50 // 6 dishes: €60

Bar James offers a perfect combination of hip atmosphere, world cuisine with a vegan / vegetarian focus, and a wide variety of cocktail selections. Order completely vegan here and you won’t miss out on any flavor. Start with the Carrot Salad spiced with ras el hanout and topped with goat cheese, dates and almonds. Continue your culinary world tour by ordering the Thai Curry with sweet potato and pumpkin. Pair it with a refreshing veggie featured cocktail, like the Beet Martini. Bar James even offers two vegan desserts; I recommend the poached pear with pure chocolate ice cream and chestnut cream.

All vegan, all the time. It’s not uncommon to see the same guests for multiple meals in a day. This trendy place has a cool NY vibe with its bright and modern décor. For breakfast (10am-12pm), try the Frozen Banana Dream with tahini paired with a fresh fruit juice. At lunch (12pm-6pm), if you like a little heat, order the Walnut and Mushroom with a chili pepper mango chutney. The new spring dinner menu (6pm10pm) features a Fried Zucchini Flower stuffed with homemade “mozzarella,” and an ever-popular Tempeh-Tofu and Tomato Burger. If you’re near the Bilderdijkstraat, make sure to stop by this hotspot!
